A Long Way From Chicago by: Richard Peck
Mr. Vernier and Mrs. Klein's seventh grade students read A Long Way From Chicago and kept various notes in their reader's notebooks. As they read each chapter, students sketched scenes, made predictions, identified connections, wrote summaries, created vocabulary pages, and asked essential questions. Next, each students developed a sequential time-line of events and illustrated a corresponding visual representation. They took these story-trail images and searched for similar web based images that were similar to their artistic sketches. Then the students added their graphics to Sonic Pics on their ipod touch devices. Finally, they added their oral presentation into audio form for your listening pleasure.
